I had no idea I'd find one of the best fabric stores of my life in a little tourist strip in Skagway, Alaska! This quilt fabric store has a plethora of beautiful cottons sorted by colors and patterns. There's an entire tray of loon prints alone (a literal loony bin? 😏) and all the wildlife and sealife you could want. You can also find some bargain bin specials toward the back. It's nearly impossible, but I managed to limit myself to the absolute must-haves. Fortunately, this shop ships (and the Post Office is also right across the street) so you can order anything you want and bring it home the easy way. If you're craftsy, this shop is an absolute inspiration. Don't miss it!

I needed a new needle for a sewing project I was working on while cruising—they had what I needed and much more. They have a great AK-themed fabric selection and many kits to choose from.

This quilt store is a must stop for fabric enthusiasts! Their fabric selection is just what you'd expect. Unique Alaska fabrics that I would not even think to look for. Especially some of their batik fabric! Like mosquito batik fabric! What! So, if you're looking for a unique fat quarter souvenir for your collection or an Alaskan pattern, you'll find it all right here. For being such a small store they even have some notions, but I didn't look too hard at those. I got their My Arctic Star pattern and picked out my own fabric for it. The older women running the store, despite being very busy, helped me figure out how much yardage I needed for the backing and front background parts. They were even kind enough to print the instructions for me. All in all, wonderful and you won't regret going!

Unique gifts for the sewer / quilter in your life. Local to Alaska artistry based fabrics, unique and Alaska-inspired blocks, kits, samples, and fabric to make a unique memory of one’s own. There were indigenous peoples-themed inspired patterns also that included totems, drawings, and home life. There were fabrics also with humpback whales, orca, puffins, otters, beluga, seals, walrus, ya know- all the things. Moose, bear and caribou too. People were incredibly helpful and friendly. They also have an online presence in case one is missing something to finish a project. (thanx Barb for the tip!)
