USA Sewing Machine Repair

First, I need to acknowledge that the repair was done and the machine is operational, which is why 2 stars, not 1. However, in addition to repairing what we asked for (i.e., the presser foot not lifting) we were "stuffed" with ~$100 worth of completely unnecessary maintenance on a NEW machine. We brought in a barely used Singer in need of minor repair, and were charged for things like "needle timing - $50", "oil check - $40", which were neither asked for, nor necessary. When we tried to explain, we got a response: "we always do the maintenance when we touch the machine". Be careful if you decide to use this shop, but even better - do not!

Jesus and his family run a wonderful, customer service orientated Local business. We have taken several older family machines and they have been Very well taken care of and wonderfully repaired. They are our Go-To from now on.

If you're in Melbourne and have a love for sewing, you have to stop by!! My grandma has been a loyal customer for years, and now I understand why. I recently got my first sewing machine here and enrolled in a class to learn the ropes. The experience was fantastic, and today I went back for some colorful thread. This shop is a hidden gem, with charming antiques, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for sewing supplies and a welcoming atmosphere.

My old Singer machine, which I love dearly, wouldn’t catch the bobbin thread. Jesse, the owner, knew exactly what was wrong and showed me that the gears inside the machine were broken. He had it fixed in one day, and also put in a nice bright LED bulb. I recommend that everyone get their machines tuned up before we have no sewing machine repair shops left!

First impressions were great. I loved the shop, reminding me of an old clockmakers shop, old vintage sewing machines, cute clutter. However, my machine has not been the same since I received it back. My 1 year old Brother went in for a routine clean and oil. To drop off, he took 40 dollars which I thought was great. However, when I went to pick it up, he charged another 80, which I feel is over priced for a clean and oil on a young machine like this. My mother gets her Kenmore sewing machine cleaned for 60 total. Maybe it’s the location. Then, he got the covers mixed up on the machines so I might have gone home with another, that is unclear because unfortunately, I had initialed everything, BUT the cover. So, I guess that is my fault. But, the most upsetting is that my machine has not sewn correctly since I brought it home. It knocks quite loudly and it will stitch for a few and then get caught. Originally, I thought it was my fault, but after going through and making 100% sure I had the right needle and thread, that the thread was threaded correctly, it still was an issue. I am a certified sewing instructor so this is not my first rodeo with sewing so unfortunately, I feel unless you clearly label, explain, and check his work right in the store, I would not recommend this business.
