While some customers report positive experiences with machine purchases and lessons, many express frustration over repair services, citing unresolved issues and delays. DO NOT EVER GO HERE!!!! On April 26th, I took my 30 year old Elna 5000 to this place. I told him the issue with the machine and also told him I was going on vacation until May 8th. That's nearly two weeks. On the 9th, I went to pick it up as my granddaughters 10th bday is coming and I was desperately trying to finish a quilt for her. I was told it was a "problem child" and they would need more time to fix it. No one ever called me to discuss what the issues were or tell me they needed more time. When I pressed the gal who was helping me on that issue, she became very abrupt and dismissive. She told me it would be $50 to get my machine back for the diagnostic time they had into it. I left with tears in my eyes, no resolution as to the issue and the feeling that this woman I dealt with would rather be right at all costs. No culpability for no phone call or excessive time they took. No apology of any kind! I don't like giving bad reviews, I only do it when it's a point of no return. I still don't have a clue what's wrong with the machine. I'm sad that I can't finish an incredibly important project. Saddened even more that they don't care at all. This is not a place I could ever recommend. As a follow up, I took it to Windsor vacuum on University and 56th in Windsor Heights. The money metro charged me was literally fo NOTHING. There were adjustments and cleaning that were clearly not done by Metro. Thanks for taking my $50 when you did nothing on my machine. These people are SCAMMERS!!

If I could give them zero stars, I would! I took my elderly mother's machine in for REPAIR AND CLEANING. She picked Metro sewing because it was close and the other repair that she always uses is a long drive away. We picked it up, paid the bill $120 and took it home to her. Same problem, it wasn't repaired. She called them and was advised to bring it back in. We did. The woman there argued that there was nothing wrong with it. She tried sewing with it and it did exactly what Mom was having issues with!! So we left it to be repaired. A few days later Mom got a call that it couldn't be fixed..."it's the motor and we can't get a replacement" Took it back to Mom. She called the other repair place, we made the drive and left it to be repaired. The repair person got it repaired, and cleaned and running perfectly. The person that did the repair said the machine was dirty inside and needed to be oiled. She said she could see that THE CASE HAD NOT BEEN OPENED BY METRO!!!! the problem was fixed with a $10 part ..the machine was cleaned and oiled and works like brand new! BEWARE

Beware of Metro Sew & Vac! I took three sewing machines in for repair in August. One was fairly new and didn’t need much done to it. Other than it being during the state fair, it didn’t take long to fix. The other two were family heirlooms. One was my mother’s Kenmore model 43 that she received as a wedding gift in 1957. They were not immediately repairable, but the man said he would see what he could do and call me. Because it was in August and they have a big set-up at the state fair, he told me it would be a while. When I picked up the one machine he could fix in September, he did NOT tell me the other two were unrepairable, he said he would work on them and see what can be done, but there may be a repair investigation fee but he could not repair it. I told him okay that was fine, I wanted the machines back either way. I have a witness to this. He did not ever call me nor did he have anyone else who worked there call me. When I finally did call, November 1, he said he would look for them and call me back. He didn’t, so I called the next day and spoke with Shari Peterson, who said she would look again and call me back, but she thinks since it had been so long, they junked them. Without ever calling me, they disposed of my personal merchandise. Now they claim they were only worth $5 as junk and are only offering me $100 in store credit for them. For my mother’s sewing machine that only needed the tension worked on (Bob’s words) when I picked up the other. Share this on your own walls so that everyone knows to stay away unless you want these thieves to steal your family treasures right from under you and only stand behind a “not responsible for items left after 30 days” rule (that will not stand up in court!). Share this with everyone!

I am on my second machine from them. first was singer xl 1000 and had no problems they gave me lessons and made sure I knew how to use it. then when it quit working few yrs later and lots and lots of use I took it in to get it fixed and after checking it out they did not fix because it would have been 400.00 and they said a second part was going bad and it could not be replaced. I did appreciate the honesty. Now I am onto my second machine a Brothers. I am heading today to start lessons I have never had a problem with them. very pleased with their service and products.

This is the first time I have reviewed a business online but I feel people should know about the experience I had at Metro Sew & Vac. The first time I went in I took an old Singer machine to be cleaned & serviced. No problem with that one. The second time was my 3 year old Baby Lock. It had a malfunction code & since they say they work on all makes I took it there rather than the shop I bought it from. They cleaned it, the code was gone but the machine was still not functioning properly when I got it back. Since they have a "90 day guarantee" on their work I returned it to the store. They called me later that day to say there was nothing wrong with it & acted like I didn't know how to use the machine I have been sewing on for 3 years. I insisted it wasn't right so they apparently looked at it again, called me again and said it needed one of two different things, each costing several hundred dollars. Couldn't get a part price until Monday so they said they would call me on Monday. Monday came & went & no call so on Tuesday I stopped in only to be told "we can't buy Babylock parts so we can't fix it." So since it was broken when I dropped it off they knew it might need parts, how about telling me that before wasting my time?? Oh, that's right, they wanted the $100 it cost for the "cleaning." Needless to say I won't be going back.
