Cut & Sew Studio

The teachers are great, and the classes are as described. The staff there have brought me along from novice to skill builder. Empowering and fun! Highly recommend classes with Julie and Virginia.

I would give more than 5 stars if I could! My best friends and I took the beginner sewing class. It was a BLAST. I told myself I’d start new hobbies in 2026, and this was a PERFECT introduction to sewing and sewing machines. Cathrine was a great teacher. She verbally explained things, then she showed actual examples of her doing it, and after would come around and show us one on one to make sure we were doing it right. I never felt lost or left behind during the class. It was perfectly paced. I went home and created a beginner sewing board on Pinterest. Perfect girls night! Looking forward to more classes and hopefully quilting eventually.

I took the Adult intro to Sewing class on Jan 7th. I was very pleased with the class. Catherine is a great teacher. She was very detailed, clear and patient. There were people that have never sewed to others that had some knowledge. She was helpful to everyone. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone that wants to learn to sew or get a refresher if they haven’t sewed in a while.

Our daughter loves the sewing classes and camps at Cut & See Studio. She looks forward to each class and continues to improve each time. She has mentioned that she finds the instructor very supportive, kind, and encouraging. We highly recommend Cut & Sew.

I emailed Catherine, of Cut & Sew Studio needing long distance assistance from California. She reached back to me immediately, and I honestly can’t say enough about her kindness, and willingness to offer assistance to me, even though I am thousands of miles away! She went above and beyond to assist me; I am sure if she was this willing to assist me from miles away, she is clearly devoted to her students! She represents the best of how kind folks from Pittsburgh truly are!

Cut & Sew Studio is wonderful, positive place to take a class. Their teachers are topnotch with knowledge and skills that they are more than eager to share with students. I recently took a mending, alteration and remake class and it was outstanding! Virginia, the teacher, was patient and kind throughout the whole class. She provided various options to alter a jumpsuit I brought in and took any fears I had of altering the garment away. I'm hooked, I will be signing up for more classes in the future!

TAKE CLASSES HERE! Seriously! I’ve had such a wonderful time and I’ve been taking classes here for years. Even my mom comes with me! Everyone is so talented and they really help you leave feeling confident in what you learned. From backpacks, jackets, pouches, sweatshirts, shirts, dresses and more - what a fabulous studio. A hidden gem I tell anyone interested in sewing (beginner and advanced!) about! Photos of some of my favorite projects are included!

Had a really great time here during a recent intro class and hope to come back for additional classes. The content was really broken down nicely and presented in an approachable manner. I love that the pillow pattern for the class is both cute, but allowed us to really practice our new stitching skills. My pillow turned out super cute and I’m feeling confident about learning to sew for the first time ever!

This place is one of my happiest spots in Pittsburgh. I started taking classes here a few years ago, and I am addicted. I have taken both apparel and quilting classes—all are fantastic. The instructors are amazing, wonderful people (who are also extremely talented fabric artists each in their own way), and I have always met cool and interesting fellow students in each of the classes. I am counting down the days until my son turns 6 so he can try one of the kids classes. It also doesn’t hurt that it is attached to my favorite little fabric shop (Firecracker Fabrics has the coolest selection in Pittsburgh). Try this place—it’s the best kind of therapy!
