Meissner Sewing & Vacuum Centers

So I went in thinking I would need to spend hundreds of dollars to repair two sewing machines. And left with two fixed machines and a super fun experience. And spent a fraction of what I expected to pay. Polly with pink hair (!) made it all just so good. The combination of competence and warmth is beautiful when you find it, and she has both. I can’t believe how much she knows! And while she fixed both machines, my son’s and my own, we talked. And laughed. I learned about durable and non-durable machines while she untangled the problems of our machines. I learned about the history of the giant sewing needle. (You should ask. It’s fascinating!) Not all machines can be fixed in store. And I was prepared to do whatever it took to get these machines working once again. But I didn’t expect the trip to be so fun. Even the guy with the great smile who carried the machines out to the car was, well, great. Sacramento, we are lucky that Meissner’s exists. And that Polly works there. And that everyone else there is ready and willing to provide excellent service.

The customer service has improved enormously since I was there a few years ago. I've been avoiding Meissner for that reason. But there was no way around it this time. I genuinely dreaded going there because of several less than pleasant visits. But today was wonderful! I left feeling completely confident and happy to do business with them again.

Love the Sacramento store! I bought a machine here a year and a half ago and several times I’ve ran into trouble and they’ve made time for me to come in to receive help. They always take the time to answer my questions. They are patient, kind and so helpful. I have recommended this location to all my friends to buy machines from. They have great fabric as well! I’m looking forward to taking a class here eventually

WOW! Ivan fixed my really old Adler in two minutes!!! Too bad there are only 5 stars. Fantastic experience, we felt right at home, got our 'baby' fixed, and were on our way in no time.

Very helpful and honest staff! I came in for a repair on my old sewing machine, which was going to end up costing more to fix than it was worth which the staff was very transparent about. I had such a great experience that I came back later in the day to buy a replacement machine. The staff answered all my questions without making me feel dumb and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. I never once felt like I was being up-sold or talked into anything I didn’t want, but they explained options very concisely and were super helpful.

Be careful. This shop does not honor the price they quote for repairs. I brought in a vacuum cleaner for a repair and paid an up-front $99.99 diagnostic fee. A few days later an employee called me to inform me about what the problem was, and stated that the total cost for the repair would be $199.99. I asked her to confirm that my outstanding balance was $100, given that I already paid $99.99 up front. She stated yes, that was correct, I still owed a total of $99.99 at the time of pick up. After that, I had one phone contact with the repair technician Greg about the delay in the parts shipment, but there was no further mention of the price. After a total of 5 weeks, the parts came and the vacuum was finally repaired. When I came in to pick it up, I was informed that my total cost was $299.99 and not $199.99, as I had been told by phone previously. Consequently, they said, I still owed $200. After I asserted that this contradicted the information I originally received via phone, they told me there was no record of a lower quote and I still owed them $200 if I wanted to get my vacuum back. Since then I called several times and finally managed to speak with a woman who consulted with the store manager about the matter. She apologized for the misunderstanding and stated they will train their employees better in communicating accurate price estimates in the future. However, if I wanted my vacuum back, I would have to pay the new, higher price, she said. Bottom line from this customer's perspective: a reputable business will honor the pricing their employees give to customers. Should an employee make a mistake and communicate a wrong price to the customer, a reputable business does not make the customer pay for the employee's error.

As I was searching for the right bags for my Riccar Vibrance upright I couldn't help notice the extensive display of other Riccar vacuum parts and supplies. For my very first visit to any Meissner store I felt extraordinarily lucky to have visited on a day that the vacuum bags I needed were 35% off the regular price of $24!!!
