It makes me happy that there are still people out there who want to help others learn and enjoy things that that also do. Connie has such an abundance of knowledge that I usually leave with brain over load. In a good way of course. I definitely recommend their classes

My wife’s 40 year old Singer stopped working. The owner and staff were upfront about repair costs. We looked at new machines and the owner demonstrated capabilities of several. She talked with my wife as one expert to another- no pushing for a sale. We bought a new machine and were glad to support a business that’s been in Austin for over 40 years. It’s possible my wife bought her first machine here 40 years ago. We just couldn’t remember for sure.

I can’t say enough about how nice everyone was at this shop and how helpful they were. I went in with a serger that wouldn’t work and left 30 minutes later with it working perfectly for $45. I know that won’t happen for everyone, but the fact that they were willing to look at it immediately was just unbelievable. I had just taken it to another place in Austin, and they were going to charge me $299 to clean it before they even tried to determine the issue, and it had just been cleaned!

Northwest Sewing Center is probably my favorite store for sewing machines, accessories, classes and learning. I’ve probably been going there for about 10 years and I recommend them all the time. The owner, Mary is not only a lovely person, but knowledgeable and attentive. I have had some parts that were hard to figure out, but she spent the time to find out how to get them and what they were. All of the staff are just as friendly and knowledgeable. I like to go in there just to visit sometimes, but I always walk out having spent money on something. For such a small space, they pack a heck of a lot of good stuff. Over the years I have purchased one large Brother machine, one ScanNCut, a Juki straight stitch and a Juki serger. Three different staff members demonstrated these machines and I left knowing that I had made a great choice at a good price. They carry singer, Janome, Brother, Juki and I may have left something out. I have also taken lessons in quilting and Machine Embroidery and always learned something new. I highly recommend this store for availability, knowledge, courtesy, and friendliness, and value for your money.

I took the sewing 101 class with Louise and it was amazing! She is so thorough and made me feel confident operating my machine. Louise offered hands on assistance, had knowledge of all different sewing machines, and everyone left feeling successful after sewing their own project! I definitely recommend her classes- I’ve already signed up for the next!
