I’ll echo other reviews here: this business doesn’t always seem to value their customers. They’re relatively nice when you’re in store, but there is an intolerance to requests and rules that can be off putting. I also had an issue with a walking foot that caused some consternation given I originally had to pay a service fee to be told I had the wrong walking foot in the first place. Myself and 2 other employees couldn’t get the walking foot that came with a Bernina 1090 I bought used when in Chicago. We also tried a new foot and had a similar issue. I was told it needed a service to resolve. BTW, I just had a service in February! Once the technician looked over the machine he said it was the wrong foot! So I paid $149 to be told it was the wrong foot. A Bernina dealer should have known this. I asked for a refund and it was put back on me that I wasn’t willing to let a third employee look at the machine, which isn’t accurate. I was not given this choice. Revising post to three stars. Owner followed up and made it right. I really appreciate she did as the store has an excellent selection of curated fabrics at reasonable prices and most of the accessories you could need. The store is one of the only options for sewists and quilters in west LA. Just be prepared that you might not always get a “customer is always right” attitude.

After walking around the Fabric District near downtown Los Angeles, I was pleased to find Sewing Arts less than 10 minutes from my home. It has been since COVID that I've sewn. So, taking up this hobby again, just because sewing is part of who I am, required some new tools, and connecting with people who know their "stuff." I like how clean and organized this store is. I also appreciate that the parking was easy, and they had notion-related things in addition to fabric, sewing machines, a big classroom, patterns, and more. I will definitely return to this store.

You are not allowed to go inside and shop without a mask on your nose and mouth. They have crappy paper ones to give you. They told me it is required to shop here. I said no thanks and left. They are very over priced anyway. I only came because my friend is looking for something specific. She put on the mask and went inside. I was pretty sure we were passed mask wearing days. As I like to say I’m a good dog and I have all my shots and I’m not sick or I would not be out. lol

BEWARE! customer service and owner are awful. This shop does not value their customers at all. I purchased two machines suggested to me by the owner. Bernina serger and Bernette Fun Lock, a sewing class and well over $1000 of fabric and novelties. I spent well over $3000 in 2025. At the time I purchased the machines I was told by the owner that I was given a one hour class on each machine. Unfortunately, I had to have a big surgery so I needed to wait. When I called for those classes the sales person that answered the phone said I wasn't entitled to those classes. I asked to have the owner call me which she didn't. Sales person called me back and said Julie the owner didn't recall that conversation (my husband was standing right next to me because I couldn't lift anything due to medical treatment I was getting) I was not going to get the classes. She then back tracked and offered me one class. My response : how would I know I was getting these classes if she hadn't told me at time of purchase? I didn't just make it up. Sales person said: I can't imagine. Bottom line: I am retired I'm fortunate to have money to spend on my sewing hobby. I would quit sewing If this was the last store on earth. I have a $200 gift card my husband bought me for xmas. I will purchase fabric and donate to underprivileged children at a local studio. I will never walk foot in this store again. There is a lovely store in Sherman oaks Stitch Space La and Stitch Shop La. I highly recommend both. See the owners response to me below. she has a full bio on Yelp with her name!!!!!!
