Such a great gem of a studio. I travel close to an hour to get there because it is worth it! This is the only place in the area where you can rent time on a longarm machine, which is huge! Thank you for being generally awesome and providing longarm access to quilters.

I love this shop! I did the intro to machine class and tote bag class and was so happy with my new handmade product. The steps and directions were very clear and manageable. I also brought my daughter to two of the family classes and couldn’t believe she could use the machine! It was such a memorable way to spend time together. I can’t wait to sign up for more classes. I think you can also rent time in the shop if you want help with your own projects.

I have taken two different classes at this studio and both were a great experience. I was warmly greeted upon entering the studio. The small class size was nice for learning and getting to know the other people in the class. Each class was made up of a diverse group of people with a common interest. After class it was fun to shop the previously loved section of fabric. Finally, the studio has a community fund to make sewing accessible to everyone which is an A+ initiative. I’ll be back for more classes and fabric!

About 3 months ago, I discovered quilting after looking for a way to reignite my sewing for passion without doing ANY garment work. I had worked in a costume department for 10 years and it killed my love of the craft! Quilting had me hooked so quickly, and I make 2 quilt tops in a 2 week sprint. Safe to say, I was obsessed. Once I realized I had no plan for the next steps (how the heck do I actually QUILT this???) I looked up longarm options near me. I’d assumed that I’d need to send my quilt off to a professional, until I found Cut and Sew! I couldn’t believe there was a longarm rental near me that offered classes, had a sliding scale, and clearly centered themselves around a deep love of their community. This place is really so magical! The longarm intro class was amazing, and super one-on-one. There were two of us learning, and we got tons of hands-on attention and focus. The teacher was great at passing her knowledge along. Soon after, I signed up for my first solo session, and I went in with total confidence because of what I’d learned in the class. She really had set us up for success, and my first lone session when spectacularly! Honestly, I shocked even myself. I have two more longarm appointments coming up, and I couldn’t be more excited. I love this shop, and love everything they offer. From community classes to kids classes, low rates if you’re sewing a donation quilt, and very affordable fabric ($1 fat quarter scraps? Are you kidding me??) they’re the best shop around.

A wonderful little shop and well equipped studio! Plenty of notions and little gift items. And one of the widest ranges of Kona Solids you'll find in Philly! (BR loves the sunny windows whenever we visit.)

My daughter had the best time at the sewing class at Cut and Sew! The instructor was fantastic and helped her build more confidence with sewing. The classes at Cut and Sew support kids in both growing their sewing skills and exploring their creativity.

The Intro to the Sewing Machine class with Melissa was a great way to become reacquainted with a sewing machine. I hadn’t touched one in many years. Melissa’s instruction made it easy to learn the basics. The hour flew by. I left feeling confident I could wind a bobbin and thread a machine on my own. It was fun to experiment with different stitches on the machine. Now I am excited to return and learn more!

Five stars! So far I have taken two classes at cut & sew. The owner Melissa is a wonderful teacher! While I have taken beginner sewing courses at other studios. I’ve found Melissa's classes are by far the best because each class I left feeling more confident in my sewing abilities, and excited for my next project. I’m looking forward to taking more classes at cut & sew in the future!

Sew excited and fortunate to have taken a class here! I recently completed the pine falls quilt class and also the beginning sewing class. It was a great way to jump back into sewing and start my quilting journey after being gifted a Bernina from my Grandmother. The class was so fun and I met some great people. Melissa was such a great instructor and patient thank goodness! I can't wait to start a new project and hopefully take another class here later this year!! Thank you Melissa!
